Archaic Smile* is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides resources and support to children with autism and their families. The organization is especially committed to working with children & young people with intellectual & developmental disabilities and their families of the community.
We acknowledge that children in minority neighborhoods are not privy to the many available resources for autistic children and families, and it is our mission to ensure that all children on the spectrum thrive by receiving what is available to them in their time of need, regardless of their background, circumstance, neighborhood, or socio-economic status.
We will assist families by providing opportunities that enable families to make educated, informed decisions with in-depth research and networking opportunities.
*The Archaic smile was used by Greek sculptors in the 6th Century BC, and is a “flat” or “unnatural” smile that many autistic children display. However, modern day anthropologists believe that the smile has a specific meaning and is blessed by the Gods.
